On the Days Your Heart Is Heavy

On the days your heart feels heavy,
does the rain come down to keep you company?
Does the wind fall still,
as if it has come only to make you smile?

Cloud follows cloud,
sunlight breaks through the rain,
and because you are smiling,
a thin line of light
runs across the sky.

I live inside your stories.
Your anger becomes my sorrow,
your touch becomes my sadness,
and somehow,
the moment you touch me,
even sorrow turns to happiness.

I let my days pass thinking of you,
holding on to the little happiness
your memories leave behind.

The sky turns cloudy,
and so do I.
Your absence gathers slowly,
until even my face
disappears behind the rain.

On your lonely nights,
washed in moonlight,
does the moon ever think of you?

Does it wonder
why someone, somewhere far away,
still lives beneath its light
because it carries something of you?

And beneath that endless sky of stars,
why does someone keep searching for you,
as though one of them
might know where you are?

If, on one of your rain-soaked days,
the sky reaches out its hand
and calls to you,
what would you say?

Would you tell it
that somewhere beneath another sky,
someone is waiting too?

Because on the days your heart feels heavy,
somewhere,
across someone's sky,
the clouds begin to gather.

And perhaps
that is where
your sadness finds me...
