Let the Poem End
Night breaks, and dreams awaken.
Far beyond the mountains,
someone grows thirsty for someone,
while somewhere else,
at the very same hour,
someone spends the night awake for another.
The days pass in strange ways,
our thoughts stretching endlessly.
Strange, how people keep running,
strange, how they chase after happiness.
The wind pauses,
and laughing, whispers,
“Come, stay a while. Listen.”
People keep running,
running together,
as if they have finally found
the key to happiness.
But is happiness really so easy to find?
The boy who stayed awake through the night asks.
Lightning flashes across the distant sky,
and everyone returns home.
The night gathers beneath the warmth of the house lights,
and the heart grows quiet,
settling beside sleep.
The night grows longer.
Let it grow.
Prepare yourself for tomorrow morning.
Let this poem have its ending.
Say goodbye to this little world.
So Let it be.
